Court Appointed Special Advocate Pre-Service Training Schedule

Training Topics: Roles & Responsibilities of a CASA, Understanding the Child Welfare and Juvenile Court Systems, Impact of Abuse/Neglect on Child Development, Defining Abuse & Neglect, Chemical Dependency, Domestic Violence, Information Gathering & Report Writing, Cultural Awareness, How to Testify, Confidentiality, Liability & Safety, Courtroom Observation.

Time Requirement: Court Appointed Special Advocates are required to complete 35 hours of training to become certified, be approved by Anne Arundel County CASA, and be sworn-in by the Circuit Court.

Dress: Casual & comfortable.

CASA Office, 94 Franklin Street, Annapolis, MD

COURTROOM OBSERVATION:

There will be a choice of attending two or more sessions on a date that is to be announced:
AM Docket (9:30 a.m.-Noon) or PM Docket (1:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.)

Location: Circuit Courthouse, Church Circle (Entrance on Church Circle).

SWEARING IN CEREMONY:

To be scheduled on a weekday evening from 4:30-5:30 p.m. by the Circuit Court. Candidates will be notified as soon as the date has been determined.
